Introducing Brayden Schanker {Denver Newborn Photographer}

This post is VERY special to me. Why? Because it is some of the first photos I have taken of our son…Brayden! Yup, I had a baby on January 11th 2012. I have been waiting for this bundle of joy for a very long time. As I prepare to go to WPPI in Vegas this year I realized that it was 3 years ago that we decided we were ready to start a family. How I know that is it was 3 years ago that I went to my first WPPI convention and the convention was only 3 or 4 months after we had made that decision. We tried for a year at that time with no luck of getting pregnant. Then my hubby and I made another important decision….to leave California. We had this dream of moving to Colorado and raising our kids there. We loved the time we spent in Cali and felt like in the 5 years we were there we were able to see just about everything we wanted to. So we put the baby thing on hold while we focused on moving to Coloraodo. So here we are in 2012 and our Little Buddy (as I like to call him) is here and we couldn’t be happier! His name is Brayden Samuel and he was born at 4:32am on the 11th weighing in a 8 pounds 6 ounces.

These were taken at the hospital. Yes I wasn’t felling all that great afterwards, but I had to get some of our son at the hospital so my camera came with my hospital bag. :)

I love this one with my husbands hand on Brayden.

And some of the photos I’ve taken while we’ve been at home.

With babies, I love to capture some of the natural things they do…like crying when they are hungry.

Denver Photoshoots!

Hello Denver Folks!

So I’ve been here a month now and am loving the Denver life. This is one fantastic city. I can’t help but notice all these great locations for photoshoots. With that said I am planning on starting up photo shoots on a very limited basis. This is a great time to start planning for those holiday presents and holiday cards. To get things started I am offering the same “sale” session prices that I offered before I left California. Basically the 1 hour photoshoot is only $125! This is regularly $200. This price will be good as long as you book by Sept 1st! So shoot me an email or give me a call to book your date.

BOOM BOOM POW

4th of July in Denver was actually kind of rainy. Luckily there was a fireworks show on the 3rd of July about 3 blocks from where we are living. So off we went with the camera gear to check it out. We were at a great location right off the Cherry Creek Bike Path. I’m loving that we’re living the city life right now. Its so easy to get places and we don’t even have to drive.

Beautiful Utah!

I have mentioned this in the past but I will be relocating to Denver, CO. You may ask why leave wonderful California? Well, there are many reasons. Honestly California has been wonderful. It’s been a great new experience for my husband and I, since we are East Coasters. But we learned some things while living in Cali. We learned that we are die hard skiers and we don’t want to have to drive 3.5 hours to a great mountain. We want to own season passes and not have to stay overnight to go skiing. We also love to Hike and Camp. We really are not beach people. After living in both Florida and California, I think we’ve been to the beach together about 4 times over the course of 6 or so years. We totally love the mountains and everything they offer. But yet another very important reason…happiness. The move to Denver should hopefully mean that neither of us has to sit in hours of LA traffic while commuting to work.

That being said, my husband is currently living the Denver life while I wait for my opportunity to move to the Rockies! Last month I took an opportunity to drive from Cali to Denver…a scenic and beautiful 16 hour drive! I was always ready to keep on truckin’ to get there, but I did make a few stops for some photos ops. This is what Utah looks like while traveling on the 70 (I-70)! That is going to be a hard Cali habit to break. It’s not THE 70 or THE 25…its I-25 and I-70, just as it was before I made the move to Cali.
