Welcome to the Michele Schanker Photography Blog!

Who Am I? Simply put I am a photographer, engineer, runner, hiker, biker, skier, and frequent traveler.

Welcome to the Michele Schanker Photography Blog!

We focus on Photojournalistic Lifestyle Photography. What does that
mean? It means that I like your photos to look natural. Therefore I photograph
kids and babies at home or in a comfortable setting such as a park. I like to take on a modern style which offers unique angles and locations. We do not do any
studio photography, eveything is done on location at a place that most
suits you and/or your family.

I love capturing special moments, emotion, and the interactions of
people. I photograph couples, children, babies, maternity, and weddings.  This blog serves as my online photojournal that
consists of my photoshoots and also a few of my traveling adventures
too.

Michele Schanker Photography is an award winning photographer: 2009 Antelope Valley Fair (Lancaster, CA), Professional Category

Location, Location, Location

Are you wondering where you should have your photoshoot? Well, I have to say you live in a great state with an abundant of options!

I think the first thing to decide is do you want to go Urban or do you want a more serene backdrop? Then go from there.

Next, I would suggest start by thinking about your hobbies and activities. Is there anything you like to do that could help dictate a theme to the photoshoot. Maybe you and your family are huge fans of the Rockies or the Broncos…then going near Coors field or Invesco might make the perfect backdrop. Maybe your avid hikers, then a great place could be a trail head that you frequent. For skiers…maybe the town/village of your favorite ski resort. I would also think of areas that are special to you. Maybe your parents own a family farm…what a great backdrop that would be! I think your getting the jist.Think outside of the box for those unique photos.

If you still have no idea then some great places we could suggest are:

  • Cherry Creek
  • Main Street in Littleton
  • Pearl Street area in Boulder
  • LODO in Denver
  • Convention Center Area in Denver
  • Local Parks
  • Empty Fields

We’re glad to help you figure out exactly what you are looking for.

1st Colorado Self Shoot!

We moved into our house in mid November, and with all the boxes I was wondering if we would get to do Christmas cards this year. Finally about 1 week prior to Christmas we got it done! (yeah a little late sharing this, huh) This is a tradition with my husband and I. We do self portraits for our Christmas card. Its great because it gives us great photos every year that we can put up in our home. I wasn’t quite sure what to do this year. I knew I wanted different…unique…something using furniture outside! I bought these leather chairs recently and got the idea of putting them in a field. I was going tp scour all over the area for the perfect field, but my husband says “what about the one right as your leave the neighborhood”. I took a look….and thought “that will work”. So in 30 degree weather we put the chair in the car and drove the 1/4 mile to the field. I have to say I think this years Christmas card was the best so far! Here’s a few shots we got of ourselves.

Winter Promotion

If you follow this blog, you know that I have moved to Colorado and I couldn’t be happier about that decision! It took some time, but my husband and I are what we consider “officially settled”. We bought a house and most boxes are unpacked. Its an exciting chapter in our life. We absolutely love it here!

As we are new to the North Metro Denver area I am offering a fantastic deal on photography. The package is $125 for up to 1.5 hours of coverage and $100 print credit!!!! All you have to do is book a date by March 11, 2011. Your session doesn’t have to occur by that date, you only need to book by then to reserve the special.

Feel free to pass this on to any one you know in the Denver area! Its great for families, but can be used for just about anything.

  • Maternity
  • Babies
  • Children
  • Families
  • Engagements
  • Parties
  • Or any other idea you can think of!
